Mid-Kentucky
The Mid-Kentucky Chorus Spring Concert is a special event, no doubt. Not only will the 2008 Concert feature the incredible multi-faceted sounds of the Chorus but it will also be one of the opening events celebrating the Lincoln Bicentennial. Started as the Community Chorus at St. Catharine, at least seven counties are represented with the majority coming from Marion, Washington and Nelson counties. On Thurs., April 17, the Chorus will present the “Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration of American Music” in honor of the Lincoln Bicentennial. Selections include a special piece written by Director Teresa Tedder along with well-known music from the era such as the Battle Hymn of the Republic and Battle Cry of Freedom, folk songs such as Old Dan Tucker and Yellow Rose of Texas and early American hymn favorites of Lincoln such as Amazing Grace. The Concert will be held at the awe-inspiring St. Augustine church and begins at 7:30 p.m. Over the years, Concert-goers have been exposed to the exhilarating sounds of soloists Lisa Williamson, Donnie Henrickson, Collette Barney, Judith Youngblood, Gary Vidito and Scott Burress. Tedder is musician-in-residence at St. Catharine College and was the 2007 commissioned composer of the Kentucky Music Teachers Association. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for seniors. Students get in free. For more information, contact Susan Spalding at 859.336.9232 or lensusan@bellsouth.net.
