John Cox Martial Arts Masters Workshop…

 

The best of the best come to Lebanon in April to train up-and-coming martial arts enthusiasts as well as proficient practitioners. In 2009, the Workshop is April 18-19 at the Centre Square Convention Center in the historic downtown district.

The Workshop features instruction from respected masters such as Hall of Famer Kyoshi John Cox (Hakutsuru Refresher So Hakutsuru), Hanshi Tony Sandoval (advanced White Crane), Hanshi Gary Legacy (fighting/sparring theories and concepts), Kyoshi Frank Williams (Kise no Nunchauku) and Kyoshi Danita Clark (Kobudo Kata).

A production of the John Cox Martial Arts, Sandoval Karate Federation and the Lebanon Tourist & Convention Commission, the Workshop is open to all styles and systems for anyone wishing to advance in Hakutsuru or kobudō. Pre-registration is required and no video or cameras are allowed.

Fri., April 17

6-7:30 p.m. – Reception and registration. Light dinner provided (chicken fingers, vegetables & drink).

Sat., April 18

11 a.m.-4 p.m. – Classes.

Sun. April 19

1 -4 p.m. – Classes.

Lebanon is located just 60 miles S.E. of Louisville and 65 miles S.W. of Lexington. Both cities have major airports for those attendees flying in. Rental car agencies are available at both airports. The Lebanon-Springfield Airport is just minutes away from lodging and the Convention Center and local rental car service can be found at Pickerill Motor Company.

Points of interest include Makers Mark Distillery, Historic Penn’s Store, Lebanon National Cemetery, the Cecil L. Gorley Naturalist Trail, Lincoln Homestead State Park, My Old Kentucky Home State Park and Old Fort Harrod State Park and Lebanon’s downtown features several restaurants, shops and night life activities.
