Kentucky Bluegrass Music Kickoff...

This event, held in early January each year, features Gary “Biscuit” Davis, three-time national banjo picking champion who records with Dolly Parton and performs with her in her Christmas show in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Kevin Moore, professional fiddle phenomenon seen on the Grand Ole Opry, CMT and Nashville Now, along with a very special guest.

The very special guest performer for KBMK ‘09 (Jan. 9-10) is Rhonda Vincent & The Rage!

             “Come Play With Biscuit” is the featured performance on Friday night. Local groups plus The Hager's Mountain Boys and John Cosby & The Bluegrass Drifters will perform old favorites and other bluegrass musicians are invited to bring their favorite song for an opportunity to come on stage and perform with Davis. Workshops for banjo, fiddle, mandolin and guitar are held throughout Saturday morning and afternoon, conducted by Davis, Ricky Stroud, Ben Helson and Hunter Berry.

The small stage will be available Saturday afternoon for jamming sessions with The Hager’s Mountain Boys.

Limited tickets for the Jan. 10, 2009 concert are $45 for dinner and show. Dinner and show tickets are sold in advance only and must be purchased by Jan. 7. Dinner /show and show only ticket holders get into the Friday night performance FREE by showing their advance ticket.

Tickets for the show only are $25 in advance or $30 at the gate. Children 12 and under get in free for the show only with a paying adult or they can have the dinner and show for $20.

Admission to Friday night’s “Come Play With Biscuit” is $5. Children 12 and under get in FREE with a paying adult. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.

♥ 9 a.m. – Workshops begin.

♥  1 p.m. – Workshops afternoon sessions.

♥ 6 p.m. – Doors open for dinner/show ticket holders.

♥ 6:30  p.m. – Full course meal is served.

♥ 6:45  p.m. – Performance by Tommy Brown & Country Line Grass.
