The countdown has begun. Jets Over Kentucky ’08 kicks off with free flying for all pilots Wed., July 3, and gates are open to the public Fri.-Sun., July 4-6, at 9 a.m. each day. More than 50 pilots from three countries participate in Jets Over Kentucky. This is the “Cant’ miss it!” event of the summer! The Kentucky Tourism Council even named Jets Over Kentucky a 2007 Top 10 Summer Event! Come in early and enjoy the area attractions and other events. Contact the Lebanon Tourist & Convention Commission to have an itinerary created for you and tailored to your interest. We’ll make it easy for you!
While there are numerous prizes to be won by the RC pilots, the show is an exhibition for fans and an arena for the pilots to show off their skills and aircraft. Jets Over Kentucky begins with warm-up flying Wednesday then the show opens to spectators Friday morning. Pilots fly Friday from 9 a.m. till dark, Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. See below for a complete schedule. The airport will be open to pilots for test runs Tues., July 1. Pilot tents run the length of the field and there is a separate area for manufacturers. There are plenty of food vendors featuring practically every type of food imaginable.
Central Kentucky is situated in the middle of one of the largest concentrations of radio control jet pilots in the country and the Lebanon-Springfield Airport features a 5,000-foot runway, making it ideal for such an event.
Directions… ►From Centre Square, drive north on KY 55/Spalding Ave. 4.5 miles to Airport Lane. ►Turn right onto Airport Lane and the Lebanon-Springfield Airport is straight ahead. **Find directions to Lebanon from your town under the About Us tab! Centre Square is the visitor center in downtown.
