In honor and celebration of the state's designated Kentucky Writers Day on April 24, the birthday of Robert Penn Warren, noted writers, authors, poets and songwriters read and perform their own work and the work of others at Big Jim’s Steakhouse & Buffet in downtown Lebanon, Historic Penn's Store in Gravel Switch just outside Lebanon and Sutton’s Restaurant in Danville. In 2009, Kentucky Writers Day Celebration is Fri.-Sun., April 24-26. The KWD Premier is Sun., April 19. General admission and parking are free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and come enjoy the festivities. Even better, bring your own writings or songs and perform before an open mic. Books and CDs are available for purchase and authors and artists will sign their work.
