Farmers National Bank Pokey Pig 5K Fun Run/Walk

 

One of the main attractions of Marion County Country Ham Days, the Pokey Pig is fun for serious competitors, joggers and walkers. It's fun, a challenging but comfortable sight-seeing tour on foot and the participant T-shirt is a must-have collectors item!

The course is well marked and begins and ends on Main Street. It features a mixed medium course through downtown Lebanon streets and Graham Memorial Park.  The course includes a few small hills and is predominately pavement with a very short distance on packed crushed gravel.

Held on the Saturday of the last full weekend of September each year, in 2009, it's Sat., Sept. 26. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Farmers National Bank courtyard, located at 136 W. Main Street, and the race starts at 8 a.m. sharp.

All participants receive a commemorative collectors T-shirt and multiple door prizes will be given away while the results are being tabulated. Any runner purchasing a Ham Days adult breakfast ticket after the race will receive a second adult breakfast ticket at half price when they present their race bib number.

Times will be given at the 1- and 2-mile marks and a water station will be available at the 2-mile mark. Traffic control will be conducted by the Lebanon Police Department and the Marion County Ambulance Service will follow the race. A 6-inch digital timer will display times at the finish line.  Water and fruit will be available at the finish line and door prizes and awards will be presented at the Bluegrass Cellular Main Stage.

Registration fees for runners and walkers are $15 if received by Sept. 16 and $18 thereafter. A family discounted entry fee of $40 applies to pre-registered parents and their children.

Awards:

A unique piece of stoneware with the race name will be given to the top male and female finishers. Other awards include Men's and Women's Overall Award, Best First Year Finish Award, Best Marion County Resident Award and first-, second- and third-place awards in each age division.

Award program will begin after results are compiled (approximately 20 minutes) and will be presented on the Bluegrass Cellular Main Street Stage near the finish line.

 

Directions:

♥Main Street is one block south of Centre Square. Parking is available all over town and at the Kroger and Norby's Farm Fleet lots on the east and west ends of town. Shuttles run continuously from these locations.
