  • Sat., April 16—Special guests include award-winning poet Maurice Manning, author Ed McClanhan, award-winning playwright Liz Orndorff, Kentucky Living Magazine's Paula Sparrow. The evening portion features Michael Johnathon of the Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour.
  • Sun., April 17—Special guests include H.R. Stoneback and the world premier release of “From Penn’s Store to the World: An Anthology of Poems.” This book of poetry grew out of the Penn's Store Benefit Poetry Reading in New York and contains 49 poems on the "old country store" theme, written by scores of poets from many states and countries. Copies will be available for purchase with proceeds going to the Historic Penn's Store Restoration.

In honor of the state's designated Kentucky Writers Day on the birthday of Robert Penn Warren, noted writers, authors, poets and songwriters read and perform their own work and the work of others at Eddie Montgomery's Steakhouse in Harrodsburg, KY, West Hill Community Theatre in Danville, KY and Historic Penn's Store in Gravel Switch just outside Lebanon.

  • From Centre Square, drive one block south on KY 55/Spalding Ave. to traffic signal.
  • Turn left onto U.S. 68/Main St. and continue for 10.8 miles.
  • right onto KY 243 and continue for 1.4 miles then bear left onto the KY 243 continuation.
  • Drive 2.5 miles then turn right onto KY 243 continuation.
  • Immediately turn right onto Penn’s Store Rd.
  • Historic Penn’s Store is straight ahead.
